Fertilizing Roses

I know better but I didn't check the granular rose fertilizer instructions before applying it because I used it before and thought I remebered them correctly. I didn't.

I applied one cup of Parkwood's rose, soft berry and flower fertilizer when I should I have used one/half.

After I mixed it in to the first few inches of soil, I realized I made a mistake. I watered the rose very heavily in order to leach out the excess fertilizer. Can any one think of anything else to do and do you think that extra half cup will cause harm?

Anxious and waiting, in Southern Ontario.

RE: Fertilizing Roses

I think you will be fine. I use Miracle Gro for Roses and I always add a little extra with no undesirable results. I'm sure watering it through was the right thing to do. Hope it turns out ok for you.
