Eupatorium Joe Pye Weed return?

Hi

I'm having problems with all the Joe Pyes returning in the spring for a couple of years. These include Gateway, Phantom and Little Joe. I never had problems in Edmonton. Anybody have these problems? Last winter we were probably in zone six. The grass stayed green over winter. Hakonlechloa survived nicely with no cover. We went from green to a foot of snow overnight. My possible solutions are improving the drainage and or trimming any flowers to develop the root system - high nitrogen fertilizer.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I give mine no special care but have noticed they come up late. This cool spring they are not up at all yet.

Okay, You probably have a good point.

I'm going around checking each little guy personally. Patience my butt, let me kill something.

More Hurry up and wait. Well, I'm on it.
