just have to share my unusual success..artichokes!

I live in Wisconsin in a zone 4 kinda 5. I'm by the Bay of Greenbay so it helps moderate huge temp changes somewhat. I had grown 6 globe artichokes last summer from seed. ( I love them and a challenge) By fall I had nice size plants but no chokes. I covered them each in a cutout milkjug then buried them in a good 2 ft. of straw/cornstalks. I was so blown away and excited when I pulled the straw away this spring and 2 of the plants were shooting up. I guess I lost the rest. The plants are now about a foot tall and looking good. I just have to keep the bugs from chewing on them! If I actually get chokes on them this summer it will be my greatest garden accomplishment! I just wanted to share this since others have inquired about growing artichokes "up north".

I guess I'll give up on the peanuts.....they never did this good!
