? storing tubers for winter

I was reading in the Dahlia Forum abt splitting tubers etc. and storing in the garage for winter. This might be a silly question but would a non insulated garden shed be an acceptable option (Im in central Alberta)? Also we do not have a basement so that is out of the question.

Thanks,
Heather

Heather,

I think by a garage they mean a heated garage, where the temperature is cool but still above freezing: the tubers can't take any freezing at all.

You might try storing in the coolest room of the house, or even an attic if it's somewhat cooler in there. The fridge crisper might work, though not that practical if you have alot of tubers.

Glen

...a non insulated garden shed in central Alberta? I don't think you'll be successful there. As Glen mentioned, they cannot take any freezing. Also they need to be cool, and not humid. Do you have any friends with cool basements?
