Electricity and Plants

In his/her newbie intro StashBC had mentioned growing hops up the electrical & phone lines (whether serious or not I don't know). Anyways I thought about this while visiting my daughter this weekend.

In her front yard is a beautiful white clump birch with the front half growing out into and over the power lines at the street. Everything near those lines has really tiny leaves...looks like a totally different tree. It also looks like it is killing that half of the tree. Then I looked up and down the street and all trees near the lines were being affected. I don't know any of the scientific facts for this but I just wanted to post this for consideration for anyone with trees growing near their power lines. Plants don't seem to like the vibes given off by power lines.

Maybe some of the smart folks in here have scientific facts/info/explanations of this phenomenum.

RE: Electricity and Plants

Thanks,DaisyLover.... yes, I was serious in my own off-beat way...lol.... I have given my hops new aerial routes to traverse....they are presently wending their clingy way towards pine trees via the old dependable jute route...

Intersting observations you have made out in the true field of study!
