Sweet Pea Bushes

I have two sweet pea bushes that are getting just huge.
Does anyone know if I can prune this back pretty far?
I'm thinking in the fall (November-ish).
They are blooming year round. More prolific in the spring & early fall. I hate to damage them.
How far back can I prune them and when is the best time?
Anyone know?
Thanks!
Brenda

Sorry Brenda, I guess everyone has never heard of this type of bush, or it goes by another name. Do you by chance know the botanical name?

I have the same issue/question that brensgarden has. The botanical name is polygala dalmaisiana. It is known as a sweet pea shrub

I Googled the Latin name of the plant and after going through much info, I came to the conclusion that it needs be pruned to cut back on legginess and to encourage fuller growth. The pruning is done in early spring.
