climbing rose for zone 4

My husband built a beautiful arbor in the full sun of our zone 4 garden. I'm looking for a rose to climb our new arbor. I like the pale pink of New Dawn but I'm concerned it may be a poor chice for our Minnesota climate. I have read William Baffin or John Cabot are good choices for this region but I prefer a pale color. I do not have a great deal of experience growing roses so I need to make a choice that is easy to care for as well as hardy. Any suggestions?

The above-mentioned roses are among the hardiest for our climate though as you've mentioned you prefer a pale color.

John Davis rose is a pink color but unfortunately, it's really sort of an arching rose, that can sometimes be used as a small climber (it probably wouldn't climb more than 4 feet, however so might not be that high up the arbor).

Maybe a clematis would do the trick. As long as it was in clematis "pruning group C" (blooms on new growth) or "pruning group B" (blooms on both old growth and new growth) then even if killed to the snowline in our zone it would still bloom that summer.

Unfortunately, maybe the color choice here isn't that great either. I have a purple Jackmanii clematis that I cut to within a foot of the ground each fall (it dies back anyways). In spring it climbs about 7 feet up the side of my arbor and starts to grow over top. I still need another plant, however, for the other side of the arbor.

If you don't mind it NOT being real fragrant, I've had luck with New Dawn.
