Red Rasberries and heat damage

Posted by johntavary z4 (My Page) on

Dear anyone who is smarter than me, which just about means everyone except the cranky old coot that leaves down the street.
My wife and I love our Red Rasberries, but the problem is that everytime we have a heat wave, our rasberries dry up and shrival on the vine. Even when they are just starting to appear from the bud. Can anyone tell me if there is anything we can do to prevent that from happening or is there a better heat resistant rasberry out there? Oh yes we water our rasberries very well, so they are getting more than enough water.

RE: Red Rasberries and heat damage

I can't help you but I'm having problems with my raspberries also. Every once in awhile I find a dried up branch full of berries. Maybe the heat we got did it but I'm not sure. Nothing in my garden is doing well this year.
