Applying fertilizer too late in the season may promote new growth that may not make the winter therefore hindering the plant. Seaweed emulsion is an organic form of fertilizer, albeit somewhat weak.

This is my first try with seaweed emulsion and I was skeptical but after three sprays most of my plants have perked up. I wont spray them again, but I might do the Convoy plums one more time. You see they were doing so poorly I was concerned that with out some type of boost they would be doomed when winter comes anyway.
