Dutchman's Pipe Vine

Aristolochia durior [also once A. sipho]..... has anyone ever grown this vine? I was just reading about it in a very old gardener's encyclopaedia.

It causes my inner eclectic florameister to enter into a mild coveting mode....lol

Thanks,Ron

I have one growing on a 5-foot chainlink fence. I'm hoping that it'll eventually cover the whole fence, but it insists of growing straight upward (go figure) and I have to train it to go sideways. It did take a season or two to get going.

There a a few of them in the neighborhood, mostly growing over porches. They get HUGE! Very nice for creating shade on these porches, for sure.

I have a couple of them. They do grow quite well here, but do tend to go upward. Mine have climbed my fence, and s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d their way up to my neighbour's balcony, and are currently winding their way along it. Unfortunately, no flowers yet.
