| Izza, Bluestem nurseries in British Columbia has this plant. I was intrigued with it, figured I would try it here in zone 3, and bought mine this spring (via mail order). They have lots of other interesting grasses as well. As for my plant, I received it in late May and it definitely had a thick root (I guess it's all relative to the size of the grass). I planted it and it's approximately 4 feet high. I like the coarse look of the leaves. I think my plant may grow bigger in future years, but I am already impressed with it. (I am debating on mulching mine for winter to help it through.) Glen |

| I have this grass, and I LOVE it. You will note from your link to Bluestem that it is hardy to zone 4 - 9, while I note that you are in zone 3A. You will have to provide some sort of major protection for it in your zone. It comes back readily in zone 5, where i live and easily grows up to 10 feet here, with no fertilizer at all. Best of luck over the winter. |
