| Hi,
I'm in zone 4 and I have some potted peonies and rose shrub that I'd like to get on the ground this weekend. Is it too late to plant them now? Thanks. |

| Peonies usually do well when planted in the fall. I have moved some as late as the end of October, so you should be O.K. in your zone. I do not have lots of experience with roses - last year was my first. I had planted out four plants (from cuttings) in late summer, of which three survived, but by November 7, I had no room for the remaining four plants, so I sunk the pots in the ground and covered them with leaves. They survived the winter and bloomed this summer. I find sinking pots in the ground and mulching a good way of overwintering plants if I'm not sure they will survive the transplant shock.
