help me ID this fuzzy plant

HI,

I found this plant on Long Island yesterday, in a grassy area inland. It is a native plant that I found in the field, and reminds me of lamb's ear, but I don't think that's it because it's growing in a circluar formation. Does anyone have any idea what it coudl be? I have a few pictures if anyone can help. It's a minty green color and very hairy.

thanks!

The fuzzy leaves and rosette form make it sound like a verbascum, such as the introduced European plant, Verbascum thapsis.

Juliaearth - where are your pictures? Agree with ABgardeneer - it sounds like a Verbascum, all right.
