Have waited and waited and now the season is just about over,, what could I have done wrong,,had lots of growth but alas no flower buds.Have it in a big tub with other annuals and its growing up the fence. Other plants in there are doing great and still look wonderful,,not expecting frost for a few more days..lol

Tried the damned things twice myself. Huge disappointment. We never get enough heat to make them grow fast enough to flower. And don't make the mistake of giving them fertilizer, or all you will ever see are leaves. Just another of the highly over-rated plants in my estimation. Turf the suckers and grow brugmansia, which smells better and needs cool nights to trigger flowering.

My experience with them is about the same as Don's. Tried for 4 years and last year I finally got a few flower buds on it by the end of September and then had to bring it inside. It still took to the end of October to bloom and it was an aphid magnet to boot. I've switched to morning glories, they're far easier :o)

I only got one bloom the one year I tried them. But the morning glories certainly made up the difference.

Thanks all for repling,,, and I will now never again buy them. Will stick to the morning glories and also will try the brugmansia too. I love scented flowers in the garden and grow lots of sweet peas, was actually looking forward to smelling this one lol again thanks for the advice

I didn't really care for the scent of the moonflower anyway. For all the waiting that had to happen, I thought it was highly over rated.
