Does anyone know where I can get vermiculite or perlite by the big bag. I use a lot of it for hypertufa and I can only get the small bag at Walmart. Are there nurseries in Northern Ontario that sell it.
Thank you
Claire

Claire, try Peavy mart, they can order perilite in bags that are about 4 feet tall. Joelle

I went to buy vermiculite, I think it was 2 years ago. I was told it might be the last year that it would be for sale, since most of it came from a mine in Montana that had also been found to have asbestos (a known carcinogen). Maybe Perlite will be your best bet?

Try your local building supply, its used for insulation, and will save you a bundle of money. Rai

I would recommed that anyone who might have vermiculite on hand contact the EPA. I live in Libby, Montana, where this was mined and it has been responsible for many deaths.

Check this out: http://www.epa.gov/region8/superfund/libby/
