Trees for willow bog

Landscaping problem.

Couple acres of willow bog, predominanately pussy willow, with some reed-canary grass, marsh marigold.

Customer wants to make the area more Tree-y and less brushy.

I've suggested that this would be a good time to consider a water feature. The resulting fill would give some drier areas for a larger diversity of trees.

As trees I've suggested:

* Black spruce

* Paper birch

* River birch

* Red maple

* Manitoba maple

* pin oak

* Prairie cascade weeping willow

* Laurel leaf willow.

* Hornbeam (Not sure if it grows here in 3b)

Shrubs

* saskatoon

* green alder

* dogwood

I've never been involved in a large planting in this wet an area before, so I'd appreciate your advice for:

* Plantings if no earth moving is done.

* Plantings suitable for the edges of the present willow bog.

* Plantings that require slightly drier land, such as you'd get my building a pond and stacking the spoils as a 2-3 foot layer on the other part of the bog

The land is near Edmonton, Aspen Parkland
