I went yesterday to Reeves Nursery in Woodbridge and found big discounts on most of their plants. I usually try to buy only the plants that I know about, or if there is a detailed description, but I couldn’t resist a beautiful shrub called HURON VIBURNUM. I brought it home and now I don’t really know where to plant it. I have a very good spot in a shady area. But will that be OK for it? I have a sunny spot, but it is not too big and I don’t know how big it will grow. Does anybody have any experience with this shrub?

When I looked for some info on the shrub, I found that it was hardy to Z6. Viburnums will take some shade. They get quite large unless pruned, 8' or so. Is the shady spot light shade or dense shade? If it is dense shade, are there shrubs nearby that can be pruned to make it lighter? My suggestion is to plant it in the shady spot and mulch it for the winter. Planted in the shade, it may not grow as large.

I have plant lust for viburnums, too and had to laugh when I saw your post. Aren't we supposed to have a place ready BEFORE we buy a plant? right now I've got three viburnums on my patio and no idea where to put them!
