tree with beautiful branch/trunk shape

I am looking for ideas -specific tree names or perhaps a reference resource- on ornamental or shade trees with beautifully shaped branches -ones that may droop low to the ground and "twist" or otherwise have a look of "action" or are, say, "sculptural". Ones with spring and/or fall color would be the cat's meow.

Don't know if these are "shady" or large enough for your needs, but what about Harry Lauder's Walking Stick? I don't think it's terribly hardy in my zone, but you should be able to grow it with no problems...
