Transplanting ornamental grasses

Posted by deblyne Central New Jersey (My Page) on

I have several very tall (at least 5 to 6 feet) grasses that I want to transplant. They are beautiful right now, but they're not in the right spot. I want to transplant these. From what I've read, it appears grasses should not be transplanted in the fall but I've had landscapers tell me they can be. Should I wait to transplant them in the spring, after I've cut them in late winter/early spring? Has anyone had any luck transplanting grasses at all? I tried it once in the sprint, but the grass never really did come back to its original beauty.

Deblyne, I can't answer your question, but the folks in the Ornamental Grasses forum surely can. Maureen
