What's still blooming in our yard...

A beautiful, big red poppy just bloomed today. All of our others bloomed earlier this year, as usual. Can anyone tell me if this is normal in the Ottawa Valley?

My petunia containers are still going and I also have one lonely bright pink hollyhock.

Just outside Ottawa - we have mums, reblooming delphiniums, white anemone Honorine Jobert, plus a very strange phlox called Tracey's Treasure which did not even begin to bloom till late September. It is a very pale pink.

Nothing, nil, all dead, droopy vines, except for the strawberry leaves that are green. Yard is bare, needs raking and transfer of corpses to compost cemetary.

Life is over, snow will soon cover all. Gloom not bloom.

Still have "the fairy" ,petunias, blanket flowers, and marigolds. Some of the hostas are still green and the others have turned a beautiful gold, love this time of year.

Claubill: They are never done here

I used to live between Sudbury & North Bay. Relatives tell me that snow has fallen early. We have our version of early winter also as in rain. It's amazing after such a dry summer. There are fall colours but some things are in reverse order appearing as winter arrives. It's still quite odd to me because nothing is in sync here with live and dormant flora mixed together through winter. You'll find white birch in colour here in Nov or Dec while some cool weather viburnum flowers as it gets wet.

Here is a link that might be useful: Reverse order
