A friend just gave me a bunch of cuttings from her grape vine (blue grapes). We are going to get snow here soon, can I plant them outside now?? Should I not be taking cuttings in the spring?? Appreciate any help!

RE: grapevine propogation

I live in minnesota. I would root them inside to protect them. Most cuttings I do, I use a rooting hormone on it, nice light soil and tent it with a clear plastic bag. I don't water directly. Misting the soil seems to work well on all the plants I've done. Some plants are more hardy than others. Grapes are very hardy like ivy is but due to the severe conditions up here, I would baby them thru the winter.
Good Luck. My grapes are from this method.
