Calling Idaho Gardeners! Help!

I'm working on a book which takes place in central Idaho, around zone 5a, and I could really use a local perspective on growing there. What are the challenges and the frustrations? How did you solve your biggest problem? What grows really well? Got a story to share?

Three months have passed.

Idaho gardening forum faded away and there are posts here that indicate the same for gardening across the north.

This post sure isn't misplaced. Still working on that book?
