Black Spot in Ottawa

I have noticed a large number of maple and other deciduous tree leaves with huge black spot on them this fall. Does anyone know if this is due to the wet weather we've had or is there some sort of infestation going on? Is it really Black Spot or is it some other nasty that we've not seen before? I am doing my best to keep any leaf fall out of my perennials but it seems to be everywhere and I wonder what we are in for next season!

We've had this in southern Ontario, in the Toronto area for at least 10 years. It does not seem to harm the tree at all, and to the best of my knowledge there is no cure.

Any other response would be most welcome.

We have it here as well. Dont keep the leaves for anything like mulching etc.
