Anyone know of a weather history east of Reno?

The NOAA website for the Fallon Naval Air Station only keeps 48 hours (Unless I am missing something.)

I am interested in early last frost dates, average last frost dates and records of night temperatures and am having no luck. I thought we were supposed to find everything; wealth, love, salvation and weather records on the internet.

Try the NOAA station in Reno--they have all kinds of data in nearly unusable unfindable formats. If you still have no luck, try the Desert Research Institute (www.dri.edu). If no luck there, try inquiring at the historical museum in Fallon. They have all kinds of assorted stuff, both in the cases and in storage.

I found a cooperative extension URL at UNR that says the average last frost date is March 15 but a columnists in the Nevada Appeal online says the average last frost date is May 15th. I rather suspect both dates are suspect. What do you think?

RE: weather history

I think I figured out to post links to both dates here. These are links to cache and may not be good if the site updates. The link to the UNR date is near the top of the right column and the link to the Nevada Appeals date is two thirds down the column.

Disregard all my research.

I just discovered the UNR article was about Southern Nevada.

I feel so silly.

Try weatherunderground.com . scroll down to the bottom of the zip code page you are looking for, and then click on one of the weather stations. Then you can click on the "yearly" summary tab. The data will only go back as far as the weather station has been online though. Look around through the site, I seem to remember seeing more info when I was looking at it a while back.

Here is a link that might be useful: Weather Underground

Albert, I know that Reno-Sparks' average final frost date is around May 15, but in the outlying areas, in exposed and higher-elevation areas, I'd go with May 30. My working hardy-plant date here in the "banana belt" of older Sparks is April 1, semi-hardies go in starting April 15, and tender plants go in between May 1 and May 30 depending on how brave I feel and how much row cover I have handy for covering things when we get the gazillionth late freeze for the year.
