replacing shoestring acacias

| I have two large shoestring acacias in my front yard which were included with the builder landscape package. Although they grow quickly, they make such a mess in the yard with dropped strings and seed pods. One got damaged in a wind storm, so I am replacing them.
I am replacing one with a flowering plum tree, but I would like to replace the other with a tree that stays green all year. I have a choice between an African Sumac, a Chilean Mesquite, or a Honey Locust. I am looking at the least messy, and hardiest of these varieties. My other option is a Holly Oak.
Can anyone tell me of their experiences with these trees? Thanks. |

| Hello, We haven't grown the trees you list but may I suggest a web site where a Las Vegas arborist talks about many trees that grow here and their pros and cons. I believe two of the trees on your list are included in those he talks about. The site is knpr.org/dbloom/normstrees.cfm We too are looking to replace our front yard tree too and are also in the process of looking at various trees for consideration. Good Luck, Maria |

| Thank you , Maria. I have ruled out the mesquite-apparently they are very messy. I'll be sure to check out the site. |
