question: ephemerals

I was reading recently about desert ephemerals and read that some of them in the mojave desert area grow and set seeds within a few weeks while others can take a few months. I was wondering if anyone knew which specific plants are the ones that only have a lifecycle of a few weeks. Which wildflower has the shortest lifecycle in this region?

RE: question: ephemerals

That's a tricky question ... do remember a summer annual that grows after a hard summer rain .. it completes it's life cycle in a week.

The name far eludes me but I remember looking for it with my professor years ago ... all we found was dried up remenants of plants we were days too late.

Give the university a call .. talk with Wesley Niles he will tell you the name.

Good Day ...
