My husband and I just returned from a 10 day stay in Vegas. While there, I saw several plants that I liked and would like to try growing. I haven't been able to identify two specific trees.

One was used extensively around city parks and shopping centers. It was a smaller tree covered in small yellow blooms. My friend thought it was an African Sumac, but photos I have seen don't seem to match. He did say that he didn't like them around pools because they drop so much litter.

The second plant was also a small tree that strongly resembled a butterfly bush. I saw them in both yards and commercial landscapes. The blumes were purple. Is there such a thing as a butterfly tree?
