Two free plants up for grabs

Hi all, if anyone in the Reno area would like a free oregon grape holly or an adam's needle yucca, I've got one of each. Free to whoever wants to dig 'em up and haul them away.

The oregon grape is at least 6 years old or so and a good size. The yucca is about 4 years old and still small.

Hi Thermo,

This is several months after the fact but if you still have the Oregon Grape, I could use another one of those.

Also, I would be most interested in hearing how the heat pump you installed worked out. Was it worth the investment? How do you like that kind of heat? I spend a lot of time out in the midwest where humidity is an issue and when people buy heat pumps, it turns out to be kind of a mixed blessing. Some end up going back to conventional and some after getting used to that kind of cooling don't go back. I'd like to know what you think.

Dan

Wow. Sorry I haven't checked back. Life has been keeping me on my toes.

drahme, I still have the oregon grape. I'll take a pic this weekend to see if it's up to your standards. It looks great in spring, then looks a little meh the rest of the season because we let it grow without doing anything for it. It's a pretty hardy little guy. I think I still have your email and will try to send a pic there. Your pics are great!!

I'm loving the geothermal. The house stays evenly temperate and our bills are low. :)

Valree3, I moved the yucca about a month ago and it seems to be surviving. You're still welcome to get it or I can babysit it until spring if you think it needs to recover for a bit before you come and get it.

themayocynic - Sorry I'm late getting back to you about the yucca plant! My daughter lives in Reno and she would really like the yucca plant for her new yard. Can we pick it up this spring? I think it would transplant better then trying this late in the fall. We'll check back with you early next yr. about picking it up. Cant believe that 2010 is almost over with and the new 2011 seed catalogs will be coming out soon! Looking forward to them in the mail! Thanks! Valree

valree3, I'll babysit until spring then. If it's still alive, I'll let you know. It looks to me like it survived the transplant so the only thing that could possibly make it unhappy would be the soil it's now in. Happy catalog reading! I'll be plotting what to do with the area the the veggie beds are currently in. They no longer get enough sun to make anything grow :\

Hi drahme and valree3. If either of you are still interested, I still got them :)
valree, I'm not sure how well the yucca is doing but you're welcome to take a look at it still.

If you can wait toward the end of the month we can come by and pick it up. Thanks for thinking of us! Valree

Sure thing! I live somewhat close to Renown so she's welcome to see if it's even in decent enough shape to bother with. Maybe I'll post a pic later today or tomorrow of it.
