Too many lilies

| Yes, Virginia, one CAN have too many lilies. I was watering after dark last night in anticipation of today's heat, and the back garden positively reeked of lilies. It was a thick, heavy, sweet fragrance I might have otherwise pronounced heavenly (think Gardenia), but I think that about 8 Orienpets in full bloom in my small garden with no wind in the evening makes for an oppressive scent.
I shoulda thought about that when I planted them, but they are just SO beautiful... |

| Lisa, I love the smell of lillies although we are too harsh here in southern Nevada to grow them well in the landscape but in a bouquet they are wonderful for the eyes and the nose. Smellies are wonderful in the garden, from ours it is the salvias and agastaches that put out the wonderful odors. Maria |
