My friend lives in Las Vegas and says that these flowers grow in many places: (Not my Picture. It was found on google image)

She wants to know what it is named and how to collect the seeds. She says she sees it flower all the time but never any seeds to collect.

This would be the red bird of paradise. It is widely planted throughout Las Vegas to provide a tropical accent with vivid red/orange/yellow color.

Most red BOP are deciduous in Las Vegas in winter because of cold. In mild winters, it can be semi to fully evergreen which is the case in more tropical climates.

I have several of these growing in my yard. They seem to respond well to water with lots of flowers. But they look like big ferns without water too. I am experimenting with pruning and transplanting mine. In a regularily watered area like a lawn they can be a bit of a pest. The hummingbirds love them and mine are setting seed pods. My mom calls them Desert Bird of Paradise.
