| It amazes me how weeds can grow out here. I have a dry creek bed that has more weeds then the usual because of the rain storm we had a month ago...so far two rounds of using Roundup hasn't really worked. It did kill off some but certainly not all. Any ideas on what you do to get rid of the weeds? There are the usual tumbleweeds and the others that have burrs and more. There are no plants nearby so whatever you might suggest should do it. I am thinking about natural weed killers (salt, vinegar???)...HELP???
Thanks in advance-

| You are in Southern Nevada: just zip over to the Yucca Mountain site and ask them for a nice bucket of radioactive waste :-) I wish I had a natural suggestion for you, but I don't. I don't even have a good chemical suggestion because it's in a dry creek bed and therefore part of the watershed. Lisa |

| Just what I would want to do is do that-BUT it would do the trick. LOL. We had the dry creek bed built...so there is no problem with it ruining any part of any watershed. I did find a solution though and have used it and it seems to be working. :):) Got the tonic from a book called Backyard Problem Solver by Jerry Baker (he's a master gardener)..anyway...he said to really zing a lot of weeds in a large area, overspray them first with this tonic; 1 cup of liquid soap 1 cup of ammonia 4 Tbsp. of tea granules mix all of these ingredients in your 20 gallon hose-end sprayer, filling the balance with warm water. Then spray away! Sooo I've done it and it seems to be working. Yahoo. |

| Hey Beca, It's been a while since I checked in. What are tea granules? I love the natural remedies. I've also heard that corn gluten is a great preemergant to stop the weeds coming up before they have actually already appeared but don't know if that would wash down enough into your rocks to be unseen. | Hi Maria, Long time since we've chatted here...what I found was Nestea's unsweetened tea (ice tea mix). I had no idea either til my husband mentioned this since I don't drink tea myself. It comes in a jar which makes it easy to use. You should see this crate with my natural cures in it-it is quite interesting stuff inside it. B. |
