Save Japanese maple

We got hit with about 12 inches of very wet snow last night, which caused 2 main branches of my beautiful Japanese maple to break, at the trunk.
What is recommended?
Thank you.

Sorry to hear that. My Magnolia Little Gem is now 5 feet shorter than 3 days ago.

So, cry & wipe your eyes if needed; then make a clean cut at the trunk if needed. No paints or seals.

Probably pruning.

Did they just sort of peel away at V shaped attachments?
