Ideas for excess rainwater from rain barrels?

Posted by mooserider none (My Page) on

Well I just finished putting up 4 rain barrels two days ago, and they're already full. The overflow is piped down under a dry riverbed and over some rocks. I was going to put a little water mill or something there for looks.

But realizing just how much extra water I'll have has got me wondering if there are some good uses for the excess. Maybe like driving a little generator to charge batteries or something like that.

If anyone has heard of any good ideas for what to do with the extra rainwater we get up here, please let me know.

LED lights are all the rage, so attach some paddles to the armature of an unused AC motor and make those LEDs flash!
