frozen (perhaps) phormium

newgeneral

I have half dozen or so various phormium in my landscape. The ones I planted last spring seem to have been completely done-in by the winter freezes. The larger ones may have a chance of coming back, though they don't look very good. This is my first year to experience severe winter damage with phormium, and I don't know how to handle them as I do my spring clean-up. Can I cut them back to the ground to clear the way for new growth? Or do I need to be more selective?
