Is there (too much) phosphorus in compost?

I succumbed to an Embothrium at the Arboretum sale. I remembered that I've killed several small specimens before, but thought ok, I'll get this nice bigger one from Colvos Creek today.

Got home and remembered the phosphorus issue.

So now I have to figure out how to plant it in my most sunny spot, but there is lots of compost already present in that whole area. No native soil, just compost and a sandy gravely mix over some deep down construction hardpan that may still remain.

Do I dig a big hole and remove the composty soil and bring in some poor native gravely soil from the woodland?
