protecting grapes from birds/pests

We have lived in Korea for 7 years and have seen many grape vineyards and orchards. In these places, the farmers cover each cluster or individual fruit with a lightweight pellon

fabric that allows sunlight and air to filter through but keeping the pests off/out. this seems to be a fabric much like the type that people sew with and use as a light stiffener in clothing. Two sides are closed and the sack is big enough to allow growth to mature size, but it is twisted at the neck where the fruit attaches at the stem/vine. It seems to work because their fruit is flawless

and beautiful! Maybe some of you can try this in your yard and gardens!
