Most of the Asian Arisaemas emerge late in May or early June here. Early ones are sikokianum, amurense, and nepenthoides. So I would chance it. But I would be suspicious of vendors who are selling now. I would ask them if the tubers received the proper cold dormancy.

Thanks! I hadn't thought about cold treatement - that's something that I will make sure to ask about. I haven't decided yet on whether or not to order, but I will certainly take your advice under consideration. Thanks!

I have planted arisaemas at various times through the growing season but most were started plants rather than tubers.......IME, tubers just are a bit iffy about getting started :-)

I'd suggest you check out Naylor Creek Nursery. It is local (Chimacum, WA) and has an excellent reputation as a mail order provider of shade plants, including a wide selection of arisaemas. However it IS too late now to order for this season - they stop shipping arisaemas in April. But very much worth investigating for next year.

Jack and Gary are frequent participants at local plant sales, so you might want to email them to see if they will be present at any upcoming sales nearby. Very likely they will have arisaemas with them if they are. Unfortunately, they no longer have any open-to-the-public days at the nursery.......although a bit of a drive, it was well worth it to see such a great selection of shade plants, including an amazing selection of hostas (they're one of the biggies in the hosta world) growing in display beds.

Thanks for the info! I'm familiar with Naylor Creek Nursery and actually have bought several plants from them in the past at local plant sales, but I didn't realize that they have so many arisaemas in their catalog. I may ask them early next spring about arisaemas.

The more I think about getting dormant arisaema tubers right now, the less confident I am that they will grow. So I think I will plan to order early next spring. I'm not that good at planning ahead, I'm afraid - I see my arisaemas blooming, and then think to order more after it's too late...
