This is all happening in a 6foot radius - first my painted daisies budded up and then half the clump wilted just below the flowers - almost as if they'd been pinched tight and strangled. The buds toppled over and the flowers never opened. The rest of the clump was fabulous. Then the crabapple, which had bloomed beautifully, started to go almost maroon in the leaves and then they started to brown up. The tree looks unhappy, but the leaves didn't fall off. Next the Celebration rose budded up, but the buds drooped and never opened, just went brown and died. A crocosmia (Lucifer), yellow loosestrife, and lilies right beside these guys look better than they ever have before. Any idea why this is happening?
