I have used two different ultrasonic repellers and neither one worked.

The only thing that has worked for me with raccoons has been an electric fence around the fish pond and covers on my smaller ponds. Even though there are no fish in the small ponds they tear up the plants looking for food.

I have read mixed reviews on motion water cannons working on raccoons. I have read that some have seen them playing in the spray. Others have had them work.

Thanks Buyorsell. Playing in the spray? That's funny. Well, the raccoons in my yard seem to be afraid of water because when I saw them upclose I sprayed them and they ran like mad.

I have the Scarecrow by Contech motion activated sprayer but bought it for deer, cats. It works well with both of those but while we have raccoons, they normally only dig in my lawn and leave plants and planted areas alone - I haven't consistently set it for raccoon to know if they would be predictably deterred over a period of time or if they would just get used to and ignore it.

I just got back from a visit to Chocolate Flower Farm on Whidbey Island. Marie has three of the above-referenced Scarecrows to protect her nursery from the deer that run rampant all over the island. Can't tell you about the masked marauders, but it definitely keeps the deer at bay.

Thanks everyone. I'll try one and see how it works. Regarding mole problem, nothing seems to work so I watched them and dug them up:-)

My cats have killed two moles in the last sixty days. They don't last long here at all. My friends Scottish Terrier has also killed moles.

The males come out of the ground and wander around looking for females in season. That is when they are liable to be caught.
