I bought this at a local plant sale that featured rare horticultural grasses. The guy couldn't recall this Iris's species name. I have many iris in my large garden, but I have never seen anything quite like this one.

The sharply pointed and edged leaves are about 7 inches long, and spread out from a center, like a fan. Each leaf is quite stiff and lustrous, as if someone had run over a golden bamboo with a steamroller. The leaves are a deep rich gold with a bit of green showing on one edge. The guy who sold it to me said that the flowers were small and off white.

I put it in a beautiful pot and, for the moment, I'm keeping it on my deck. The leaves are so unique, I may even bring the pot in the house, to show it on a window shelf along with my rare sempervivums and escheverrias.
