Bears love Bees

We have bears, a mom and her cub. They come around now and then but are stealthy about it. They are beautiful!

We have bees. They are okay and we tolerate and appreciate them as they are so beneficial. One problem is their nest is built in a Douglas Fir off of a low hanging branch - which hangs right over our raised vegetable bed.

The bears have visited the nest more than once, and in doing so have disturbed the wall on the raised bed and knocked down the deer screen. So, today I cut the branch off, and the bee nest is lying on the ground, they are pretty darn mad, I tell ya.

I wish the bees would move into the woods instead of right over the working part of our little world. I suspect the bears will come around and clean that mess up while we sleep. That would be okay with me.

What I really hope is that the bees find a safer place to dwell, and I hope it is not just in another branch of the fir tree. The bears love those bees, WAY more than I do!

RE: Bears love Bees

Great story! We share with nature but only get the occasional bear in our area. Thankfully.
