The mustard greens that I grow just reseed themselves each fall. So putting out seed now should be fine.

I agree with lotta plants. Mustards naturally germinate in late summer/early fall, grow through spring, and then flower and set seed.

Sounds good guys... I finally just settled for some 'mustard spinach' off of a Fred Meyer's seed rack. I think it's the same species (diff cultivar) as other tender mustard greens. Also planted broccoli raab (same thing as rape?), some arugula from my spring plants that went to seed, and some plain ole spinach. I sowed them rather close together in small spaces in my plot, with the intent to transplant them around later once more summer stuff dies off.

For some reason I have never really given winter gardening a try because I have a small plot to work with and I am stingy with my space... hopefully it will work out well this year.

We've grown the mustard spinach from Ed Hume seeds. If you prefer a milder taste for salads be sure to cut when leaves are finger sized because any bigger they get a bit bitter, but do fine chopped in stir fry or thrown into pasta sauce. We planted closely as well 16 seeds to 1 square foot & it was easy to grab & snip with scissors. Stems were tasty too if young enough.

In spring they can go to seed quickly in the warmer weather so growing in fall works better as long as you can get the seeds to germinate.
