Good place to get topsoil from?

Hi!
I am thinking about buying topsoil. But the quality of the topsoil may be very different, I heard. And soil is important for growing balanced nutritious vegetables.
Can you please reccomend a good place to buy it somewhere in Pierce or King County?
Thanks!

Call some bark and topsoil dealers and ask what they are selling to people for use in vegetable gardens.

Thanks, Bboy!
They usually say: "We have good topsoil" and I am not really specialist in recognizing good from bad. I just thought may be someone knowledgeble about topsoil in our area would reccomend particular reputable business where they sell good topsoil. Anybody, please?

Topsoil is whataever someone scraped from the sucae while developing, or otherwise working, in an area. No standards exist. Look at it before you purchase to make certain it doesn't already have some of the nasty weeds you want to avoid.

As with other retailing bark and soil sold here is dominated by the same products coming from the same few wholesale suppliers serving the region. The ideal situation would be finding someone excavating and selling good natural soil from an old lake bed or similar situation. I think most places nowadays will instead have artificial mixes rather than real soils. An example which I think is promoted for vegetables gardens, among other uses is called "3-Way".

Do you have a local garden club. You could probably get some good referals from them. Good luck.

Drive to the midwest somewhere to a family farm not in production for a long time, scrape the topsoil off into a truck and drive it back here.
Really! I dream of doing that. Only way I know of getting some REAL topsoil.
