simple compost collector

We've finally found a solution to easy compost collecting in the house. In every home there is one main composter and the others often are scolded about putting compostables in the trash. Not anymore at our home...

After several different containers inside, on counter, under sink, or outside back door, the winner is a stainless steel trash can ($4 thrift store in July) w/ pedal for flipping lid open and removable plastic bucket inside. Line with plastic shopping bag and add torn household paper in bottom. Set can in front of kitchen trash can.

Its worked for us all summer because it's all right there & we remember to toss anything compostable in there especially the paper products such as napkins, cracker boxes, kleenex, & household paper.

Hope that helps solve the compost battle for you!
