| For those of you who know a tad bit of HTML, consider sharing some of your favorite gardens, trees in parks, etc., with Google Earth and GPS coordinates. Gotta have Google Earth (free) intalled to see the location. Google Earth won't show you the image - mainly the location. So you can post a text link along with an image.
Just for a test, this link below will take you to where the Bigfoot Trap is located by Applegate Lake in Oregon. It initiates in Google Earth smoother if you already open Google Earth - but it will initiate the sequence even if you don't. If you copy the link location, or place your cursor over the link, you'll see the link code below in your browser. Without the tags, it should look like this... http://maps.google.com/maps?q=42.056569,-123.137231&output=kml The coordinates are obvious > 42.056569,-123.137231 If you manually search on Google Earth, you would put a space after the comma. But for the hyperlink code, there is not space after the code. You can take this snippet of code and swap GPS coordinates for any tree, garden, park, etc., that you want to let people find the location of. Anyhow, this would be primarily for those folks who know how to make that into a tag. Unless other folks copy that snippet and pasted it into their browser window - that should work too. You can also do Google Maps with this one here... http://maps.google.com/maps?q=42.056569,-123.137231 |

| Let's see...hey...it gets there. Bit different, but that's the right idea. The bare bones GPS coordinates out of that long link are 48.410060,-123.364940 And stuffed into that snippet in my first reply, it's like this... (for Google Earth) http://maps.google.com/maps?q=48.410060,-123.364940&output=kml And like this... (for Google Maps) http://maps.google.com/maps?q=48.410060,-123.364940 Google Earth Beacon Hill and Google Maps Beacon Hill Now, if this works right, I embedded the Google Maps code into this image >> CLICK IMAGE TO TRY If that works, here's the code, but I put an "X" to substitute for every "<" and every ">" in the code so it displays...so "XX" is where two tags meet "><" - one closing and one starting... Xa href="http://maps.google.com/maps?q=48.410060,-123.364940"XXimg src="http://www.beaconhillpark.com/images/walktour25.jpg"XX/aX And an attempt at Google Earth...

| One really cool feature on Google Earth and Google Maps (Earth is more clear) is the Street Level View. Sitting at your chair at your desk, you can zoom around and cruise up and down streets and get close-up views of houses and yards. Overhead fly around with birds eye view and see everything! If you ever wondered what that weird neighbor 3 houses down has in his backyard, now you can look. Goodbye privacy, hello nosy spying, free easy and from your chair. AND you can zoom around looking at beautiful trees. The updating varies around the country. Some views are only a week old while some are a year old. Apparently Google will be updating frequently in the near future. |

| I think the gray is grass at Beacon Hill Park. I've been there several times and remember no asphalt or gravel. It is a really beautiful city park with great views of the Olympic mountains across the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Kubota Gardens is near where I work in Seattle when I go up there twice a year. I'll have to check it out. I've never really looked into Google Earth. I would like to see into my neighbor's backyards. There is a barking dog I need to indentify....... |
