Can I cut back a regular hydrangea?

After the frost/snow we had, I came back from Thanksgiving down in Los Angeles to find many of my plants leaves drooping and brown.

Should I just leave all the leaves as is and let them drop?

The one I would really like to trim out is the Hydrangea (Amethyst) that sits right out by our front stoop. It's kind large and looks so forlorn.

I would like to trim the drooping leaves off and if possible trim it back a bit. Is this okay to do now?
