Anyone in Columbus area have suggestions as to where I can get the best garden soil for my new raised beds. Comtil is not an option. ohio_homegrown

Check with any horse boarding/riding stables. They will usually have all stages of composted HM for free and will usually load it for free also. If they have HM a year old or older fill your beds with 100% HM. Plant your seeds and jump back Jack. ;o) John

I buy Miracle Gro garden soil. It does have to be amended though. Everyone has it - like Sears Hardware etc. A suggestion is to check out the soil, compost and mulch forum. They are all delightfully devoted to their craft and will help you. Have you called Oakland Nursery?

Last summer I bought bags of nice bark compost at Ohio Mulch to amend soil. Of course you can buy bulk compost etc there too. Kurtz Bros. is another place for bulk compost. I had bad luck with Jones topsoil a few years ago, Clay+sand and very little compost in the mix. I wouldn't recommend them.
