Thanks Kathy and Beverly! The pictures really don't do justice to the beauty of the glass. Some were huge, 20 feet tall.

I'll probably try to get back on a Wednesday when it is open until 8:00 to get some night shots.

Oh my gosh, how neat. I really admire Chihulys' work. I recently watched a special about his glass blowing. It really is amazing. I am definitely going to have to take a little road trip. Thanks for the info!

My daughter's been and really enjoyed it. The Hawke Gallery here in town also has Chihuly and other great artists. We played hookey one day and had lunch at the Mohawk and then a gallery hop at Hawke's. The owner was there and was so charming and gave us a nice overview of the artists shown. Do both if you get a chance.

I went about a month ago....I was more interested in the orchids, but the glass was nice too...incorporated well with the plants

Rhonda and everyone in Columbus, you will recognize the Hawke gallery as the old Main Street Furniture store with the infamous gold lame' bedroom set that sat in the window for ages. It was quite a stirring sight - very inspirational on the way to the courthouse every morning at 8:00 a.m.

I asked the folks at Hawke if they kept it and they laughed and said they have had a ton of comments but didn't buy the furniture with the space. Anyone else remember this rather dubious landmark?

As an added bonus, there was a plant sale there yesterday. They have some nice things there. I know, I helped a friend price them. There is another sale sometime around Mother's Day. They will have more orchids on that sale as well. They have some really nice yellow cymbidiums that are currently in the palm house that will be on that sale.
They had some Gower Ramsey oncidiums that went for $15 in flower and $6 out of bloom.
It is a great place to go shopping if you don't mind the crowds.
Oh, and to be on topic, the Chihuly exhibit has brought record crowds to the conservatory and is a grat fundraiser for a park that has had 60% of it's funding ended by the parks dept. So, if you have not been, go. It is so worth it. Not just for the glass but also for the fact of helping the conservatory being able to afford more orchids for shows.

I went to see the Chihuly exhibit today. It's a real WOWSER!! It will be there until July 4. There's still a bit of time. If you have a chance...it's well worth the trip.

They did a beautiful job of combining the glass sculpture in the gardens and around the conservatory.

I got some great pictures of the remaining Chihuly pieces when I went to the conservatory, and thought I'd share them. Yes, Virginia; there's still plenty of Chihuly glass at the Park!

If you look up as you walk down the corridor to the Palm House, you see this installation, and have the eerie feeling of being undewater, and looking up thru a whole lot of sealife!
