Hi. Anyone know of anyone in the area who carries this? I love mine here and want to get one ASAP when we get there...or actually, before I get there permanently and while my husband is there....Thanks.

don't know for sure who might be carrying your request, but I'd try Chaney's in Troy or possibly Deeters Nurseries Inc. 8150 Hoke Rd Englewood, OH

You might check these guys out. They are well regarded in central Ohio and have some unusual stuff for this area

Here is a link that might be useful: Dannaher's

stewartia is considered marginally hardy in this area regardless of what the big nurseries say. If you locate one then make sure you take advantage of a microclimate when planting it.

i just adore stewartia!! I have tried it once to no avail but the grower in pennsylvania warned me that it was risky.
I wish you luck!!

Hmmm. I'm in zone 6 here and have had very good luck with it, and I'm moving to zone 6...so very interesting.

microclimates make all the difference.

I am well aware of the microclimate issue...however, this one isn't in a microclimate at all....full fledged exposed area on top of a glacial moraine. I'm not saying you're incorrect, I'm saying I'm very surprised.

Hi Michigoose. You sent me an email, but I couldn't respond that way. If you can't locate Dannahers (and I've never bothered to find them yet) you can probably email them for a phone number, address, etc. since I think their site has a contact page.

I emailed them for a contact--as to address, etc. Nothing. I looked over their web page fairly thoroughly and I didn't see it. I don't think it even listed a telephone number as I would have called it...Thanks.
