Woo-hoo! DeMonye's sales!

Hope this doesn't sound like a shill; I don't work for these folks but I love their perennial sale!

DeMonye's is a greenhouse off I-670 near the airport in Columbus. They are kinda expensive for the most part, but they have a series of wonderful sales in the spring. I just came across the dates and thought I'd pass them along.

Perennial sale: April 17-19; flat of 48 plants for $16
Wave petunia sale: April 24-26; flat of 36 plants for $14
Geranium sale: May 1-3; flat of 36 plants for $14
Impatiens sale: May 7-10

(You don't have to get a whole flat of one thing, it's mix-and-match)

I don't know about the others, but a quick caution about the perennials; these are small plants, in 4-packs. They don't do much in the first year, but they are always among the first things to show green the following spring, and they are hearty bloomers the following summer. So, no good if you're looking for some immediate gratification, but if you have the space and the patience, 33 cents per plant is a great deal!

I'll be the crazy lady at the gate at 8am that Friday....

I have heard great things about them, but have never been there. I'm only winter sowing right now, but plan my annual trip to Baker's Acres for some coleus.

I love their sale, I go every year. Between that and wintersowing my beds are filled to the brim. I like to get delphiniums and they have things I didn't think of wintersowing.

Was pretty good this year, altho' I mangaged to limit myself to just one flat.

Bakemom, did you know Baker's Acres now has an outpost in the Short North, on High Street? They didn't have many plants yet when I stopped in a few weeks ago, but I still picked up a nice (expensive) coleus and a (cheap)replacement rosemary.

I went kind of late last weekend & so found not much variety left, and also all the same plants as the last two years, so I just got delphiniums--they had plenty of those & I always need to get more, since I haven't found just the right spot in my yard for them yet!

I'm going today to get petunias.

I am wondering if there is something in the potting mix that they use that is attractive to some critter--just like last year, only about 30% of my little perennials stayed in the ground and survived--I found some of them 2-3 feet away from where I'd planted them! and already dried out beyond saving.
